In many approaches, attention is often directed toward methods—ways, techniques, or steps believed to bring change. Methods have their role, but they are not the primary determinant. When the focus stops at methods, what is addressed is often only what appears on the surface, while the underlying foundation remains largely untouched.
From the perspective of self-alignment, the focus is not on the method itself, but on the state of the self that applies it. When the self is not yet ordered, any method may lose direction or fail to function as intended. Conversely, when the self is aligned, methods naturally find their place—following the direction that arises from within.
Ultimately, what needs to be ordered is not the method, but the inner state of the individual who applies it. From self-alignment, various approaches gain a more appropriate foundation. In this way, change does not depend solely on any particular method, but on the state of the self that underlies how the method is carried out in a sustainable way.
